Dear Parents/Guardians

Quiz Night: Our 1st Annual St. Thomas’ JNS & Scoil Áine Naofa took place in the Lord Lucan last Friday 1st March. A big thank you to both Parents Associations for all the hard work in making it a great success. Over 30 teams turned up and all funds raised on the night will be shared equally between both schools towards the purpose of new equipment.

St. Thomas’ PA: Continuing our series of talks for parents with eSafety, our Parents’ Association have organised a talk on Online Safety for Wednesday 20th of March @8pm. Recent national research has highlighted the risks for pupils where online access is not supervised or regulated. We hope you will come along to what should be a very interesting and relevant presentation.

Coicís na Gaeilge:

Dia dhaoibh! As usual we have a number of activities taking place in the school during (4th -16th, March). Two classes will visit from our neighbouring Gaelscoil. (Eiscir Riada) on Monday 11th March. During the next two weeks we will be focusing on promoting the use of spoken Irish, and on Irish music and culture, and we encourage you to use “cúpla focail” (a few Irish words) at home as well. We will have lots of prizes for children ‘caught’ speaking Irish during the week.

Irish Dancing: All our classes have received lessons in Irish dancing from Rita Doyle.

Our pupils will be using the school intercom for nuacht, dánta agus amhráin as Gaeilge this week as part of Coicís na Gaeilge.

Colours Day (Wear our World) On Friday 15th March we are asking children to dress up in their club , county or national colours for our annual Colours Day where we celebrate the richness and diversity that makes up modern Ireland and which is represented by all of our pupils in our school.

This year we are asking every child to bring in €3 to support one of our pupils (Holly Finlay: 2nd class: Ms. Kerrigan) Holly is diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, and her current and future care needs have necessitated her parents Mattie and Alison, and her sisters Grace and Cara to move to a new home that will allow her to live her life independently.

We ask all parents to support Holly through our Colours Day.

Adamstown Cricket Club: Indoor Academy every Sunday in Adamstown Community Centre.

10am – 11am (10 years +) 11am – 12pm (6- 9years) All welcome!
