Newsletter 28th November ‘19

MS Readathon: A big thank you to all the 2nd classes who donated €2 each in aid of MS Ireland.

Car park Campaign: We thank all our parents/guardians who continue to support us in our efforts to keep the school car park a safe and respectful space. Walking or Park and Stride are great ways for our children and parents to get some fresh air in the mornings and afternoons and help to increase fitness and wellbeing, so we would encourage this as much as possible. A reminder that the car park is for staff and permit holders only between the hours of 8:30 -9:15 and 1:30-3pm. U turns and set downs are not permitted.

History Visits: Thank you to our local visitors who talked to our first and second class children

last Friday. They talked about change and continuity in the local environment of Lucan.

The National Ambulance Service visited the school on Monday 25th of November and the children really enjoyed exploring the inside of the ambulance, helping sick teddy, listening to the sirens and learning about how to make emergency calls. Thank you to parent Christine Aherne who organised the visit. It was a great success.

Our Christmas Carol service takes place in St. Patrick’s Church Esker at 11.05am on Wednesday 11th December. All parents are welcome.

Nativity Plays/Christmas Concerts: Your child’s class teacher will let you know when/if your child’s class are putting on a show!

Special Visitor: The school will have its own special visitor coming to meet all pupils on Friday 13th of December. (Thanks to our Parents’ Association)

Punctuality in the mornings we would like to remind all parents and guardians that pupils should be in their lines at 5 minutes to 9 each morning so that they can walk in with their class. A small number of children are arriving late to school regularly.

Formal Registration of Junior Infants for September 2020 will take place in the school on Monday 27th, Tuesday 28th, and Wednesday 29thJanuary 2020 from 10.00am to 12.o’clock.

A copy of your child’s birth certificates along with the child’s P.P.S. No. and a house utility bill will be required on the day of enrolment. Enrolment to the school is subject to the school’s enrolment policy, which has recently been updated, and is available to read on the school website.

School Closure: School will be CLOSED TOMORROW Friday 29th November due to local elections as our school campus is used as a polling station also Tuesday 3rd December for teacher
