Parents Newsletter – Friday 19th of  June.
19-June-20

Dear parents/guardians,

Hope you are all safe and well. Thank you to all the Junior Infant, Senior Infant , First Class and Second Class parents who have called to collect their child’s book bundles over the last few weeks. We still have a very small number waiting to be collected so if you haven’t already done so please call this week (Mon –Thurs only between 10am and 2pm) and drop back any class readers , rental books or work packs from the SET/EAL teacher when you come. School will be closed after Friday 26th of June and you will be unable to collect after that date.

It was lovely to have our Second Class pupils back in for a short visit this week in pods of five children, to say goodbye to their teacher and St. Thomas’ school. We will co-ordinate with Scoil Aine early in Term 1 to facilitate the receipt of the sacraments of First Confession and First Communion, subject to the Covid social distancing guidelines at the time for St. Patrick’s Church.

We hope everybody received their booklists, reports and name of their incoming teacher last Friday. If you did not receive your report please email the school directly (stns.ias@eircom.net)

If you have changed email or phone number recently please let Maureen, our secretary know so she can update on the pupil database. If you are moving house to another area/school over the holiday period please inform us in writing on the school email as we have waiting lists for most classes.

Fr. John asked me to remind families to drop in their Trocaire boxes to the school before Friday 26th of June., or donate online (trocaire.ie ). Like all charities they have suffered badly during this pandemic. Thanks to the parents who have already dropped their boxes in.

Books can be purchased via schoolbooks.ie or through the Maynooth Bookshop (schoolbooksmaynooth.com) or at cormicans.com so please shop around for the best value.

School Fees - Some parents experienced difficulty with making their payments online and we have tried to resolve any outstanding issues over the last few days. Consequently we have extended the closing date for online payments to Wed 24th of June .Please pay the fees outlined for your child’s class, (and also the book rental if you are availing of it) , using the Easy payments tab on the school website.

School uniforms are now available from our supplier. This year with the restrictions in place they are only fulfilling uniform orders through their website. Orders can be delivered or there is a click & collect option. If a parent purchases an incorrect size they can exchange items over the counter here in the shop.(https://bernardowens.ie/collections/st-thomas-jns)

If you have any queries you can also contact David Hanratty on 0876117269.

Parents working in Intel: Intel has a volunteer donation program that runs throughout the year. For every hour volunteered by an Intel employee, Intel will donate €10 to the registered institution (or school) .This year due to Covid, Intel are allowing home schooling to qualify for volunteer hours. It's capped at 2hrs per day. If you are interested in supporting the school please contact Ms. Foley c.foley@stthomasjns.com as it is only a matter of registering our participating parents.

Thank you for your co-operation,

Michael Maher,
