Dear Parents/ Guardians,

Congratulations Tomorrow we say congratulations and goodbye to a talented and treasured member of staff- Ms. Alison Walshe. It is with great pleasure that I announce that Alison has secured the post of Principalship of St. Kevin’s boys school in Kilnamanagh. This is a well-deserved promotion, and we know that Alison will bring the same passion, dedication, and innovative spirit to the role of Principal as she has demonstrated in the classroom.

Alison has been an integral part of our school community, contributing significantly to the academic and personal growth of our pupils. We have no doubt that her leadership will continue to inspire pupils and all members of the school community at St. Kevin’s. Alison will take up her new position after Christmas in January 2024. We encourage you to join us in congratulating Alison Walshe on this remarkable achievement. As we bid farewell to Alison in her current role, we express our sincere gratitude to her for her outstanding contributions to our school. Congratulations and best wishes for the future.

Science The children in second class had lots of fun becoming junior scientists for a day. They enjoyed doing different experiments such as making a lava lamp, cleaning coins and watching 'jumping raisins'. A huge thank you to Erica Hendrick who organised all the science activities on the day and even supplied the children with their very own lab coat, safety goggles and experiment booklets. Also, a huge thank you to the Parents Association who gave their time so generously to ensure the children had a wonderful experience.

History Visitors - Our pupils in First and Second classes were visited by Volunteers in the community to speak about various historical topics. They spoke about life and school when they were children and delving further back to the history of Lucan and our school long ago. Sincerest thanks to Michael Maher, Fiona Dwyer (past staff), Eddie Grahame (Local Lucan person) and Maeve Mullin (Monaghan/ Historical society/ Heir Hunter) for their wonderful work with our pupils.

Parents Association Many thanks to Lorna and all members of the PA who assisted in all the activities that they have organised over the past term. The Christmas raffle was a great success and congratulations to all our winners. Many thanks to all who donated prizes. A big thank you to Santa and his helpers and for the Christmas Annuals and selection boxes that children received. Many thanks to you and all parents, guardians, pupils and staff who have supported the work of the PA and contributed to raising funds. All fundraising this year is going towards a sensory floor sticker pathway which will benefit all the children in St Thomas’.

Christmas Carol Service/ Saint Vincent de Paul Christmas Donations The Christmas Carol service held last week in St Patrick’s church was fantastic. The children sang beautifully and read poems beautifully. Thank you to all of you who made donations to St. Vincent de Paul. The charity of St Vincent De Paul has a profound impact helping families in our local community and needs all the support we can give in their annual appeal. Your generosity is very much appreciated.

Christmas WOW walk Thank you to all of you who joined us on our Christmas Wow walk this morning. Thank you to Ms. Power for organising.
