Covid Cases: We have had multiple cases of Covid 19 across all class levels this week. This has included a cluster case. We ask parents to kindly inform the school via a message to the class teacher or through reception (01 6282691/info@stthomasjns.com) if your child has been diagnosed with Covid19. This information will be treated with the utmost confidence and your child will not be identified by the school. Although this is not a requirement on your part, it allows us to monitor the situation carefully in each class. It also allows us to anonymously inform parents of positive cases within each class (with prior parental consent), so that they can make informed decisions with regards to their children and their contacts with other vulnerable friends and relatives.

We are aware that parents may receive this information before the school due to class communication groups, but we urge parents to also follow the correct avenue and to inform the school as soon as possible. Please also remember that if your child tests positive on an antigen test, you must book them in for a PCR test as this will determine when they can return to school as per the advice the HSE gives you. Schools cannot give you this return date.

We sincerely thank our parents in advance for their co-operation in this matter and for the openness you are displaying. Please refer to the HPSC guidelines here for advice and symptoms regarding Covid 19 and remember to keep your children at home if they display any such symptoms. With contact tracing removed from primary schools, we rely on our parents to make the correct decisions on all of our behalves.

We also ask parents kindly not to gather at drop off or collection times at the gates or on the yard and to leave the school very promptly.

Drumming Workshops: Each first class participated in a fun drumming workshop today in the school hall. Lots of noise and laughter could be heard throughout the school. Thank you to Mrs. Mc Gowan for organising this treat for our pupils.

Parents’ Association: a reminder that our PA are seeking old Christmas decorations to help stock up their supplies and to help decorate the school in the lead up to Christmas. If you have some spare decorations that you no longer need, we would be grateful if you could send one per child into the class teacher over the coming week (baubles, tinsel etc). They will be placed in quarantine for the required period of time. Closing date is Friday 26th November.

PA Christmas Cards-your children will be going home with Christmas cards that they have made in their bags today. If you wish to order packs, please do so via the Easpypayments tab on our website www.stthomasjns.com Closing date for orders and payments is Wednesday 24th November.

SDCC Lollipop Lady: the lollipop lady at Esker drive will not be available on Friday afternoon (19th November), so please ensure that appropriate arrangements are made for your children to arrive home safely.
