Biodiversity

Biodiversity.jpg

Biodiversity or biological diversity is the variety of all life forms on earth: plants, animals, insects, fish, all sizes, types and species - all over the planet.

Biodiversity is central to our lives and in our programme we learn how to conserve and protect it.

Biodiversity provides us with all commodities necessary for our lives - food, medicine, clothing, fuel, building materials as well as providing wonderful amenities for us to enjoy, such as beaches, parks, mountains and lakes.

Evidence of threats to biodiversity is already apparent in climate change and global warming. Other threats are littering, pollution, habitat loss due to overdevelopment, intensive farming and exploitation of resources e.g. rainforests and water.
