Dear Parents/Guardians,

Quiz Night: Our Annual St. Thomas’JNS & Scoil Áine Naofa takes place in the Lord Lucan Friday 27th March at 8pm sharp. €40 per table of 4/raffle/spot prizes and live music. All proceeds will be divided between both schools. If you are a member of the local business community and would like to donate a voucher/gift towards the annual raffle please do so through the school office. Thanks to all the school suppliers who have already donated prizes and will, be acknowledged on our website. Come along for what promises to be a great night!

St.Thomas’ P.A.: Well done to all the parents who attended the talk on ‘Effective Parenting’ last night by Patricia Fitzpatrick. We had a great turnout and we have a small number of copies of Patricia’s book on ‘Effective Parenting’ available to purchase from the school (€15.)

Coicís na Gaeilge:

Dia dhaoibh! As usual we have a number of activities taking place in the school during (2nd-13th, March). We will have class concerts next week and a visit from some of our past pupils in Scoil Aine. Two classes will visit our neighbouring Gaelscoil. (Eiscir Riada) on Monday 9th March. During the next two weeks we will be focusing on promoting the use of spoken Irish, and on Irish music and culture, and we encourage you to use “cúpla focail” (a few Irish words) at home as well.We have a ‘Lá Gaelach’ next Monday where we will be encouraging staf to be ‘ag caint as Gaeilge I rith an lae’

We will have lots of prizes for children ‘caught’ speaking Irish during the week.

Irish Dancing: Currently all our classes are receiving lessons in Irish dancing from Rita Doyle.

This continues until the 13th March in the run up to Coicís na Gaeilge.

National Gallery / Natural History Museum: This week our First Classes have been visiting the National Gallery and Natural History Museum to build on our curriculum work in Art, History and Science.

Shamrock Parade / Lá Dathanna (Colours Day): As Coicís na Gaeilge draws to a close, our final event will be our WOW Morning on Friday 13th March. St. Patrick / Patricia will lead the Park n Stride.

Colours Day (Wear our World) On Friday 13th March we are asking children to dress up in their club, county or national colours for our annual Colours Day where we celebrate the richness and diversity that makes up modern Ireland and which is represented by all of our pupils in our school.

This year our walk is in support of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Leamhcáin. This local group do excellent work promoting Irish music in our community and have given their time free of charge to perform for us over the last few years. Please bring in €3 per pupil to support this local organisation.

Thank you: To one of our parents - Paul Shortall, (Maggie May in Senior Infants) who won a competition on FM104 recently and nominated our school for a gift prize of €250.World Book Day:

Today is World Book Day. Each child has received a voucher for €1.50 to spend in any bookshop. Our book fair company have opened their warehouse and they have a huge range of
