Newsletter February 6th ‘20

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Mumps: The prevalence of mumps is on the increase in the general population in recent years. At the moment we have a small number of suspected cases in the school. Symptoms of mumps and information on the vaccination programme can be found at the Department of Health website. (hse.ie)

Corona Virus: While the Dept. of Health has not yet issued any specific guidelines for schools we are asking all families returning from Chinese New Year to contact their doctor and the school on their return.

Parents Association meeting takes place next Wednesday 12th February at 8pm in the staff room.

Parent /Teacher Meetings: These have taken place yesterday and today in our school with the vast majority of parents attending. If you were unable to attend please contact your child’s teacher to see if a mutually convenient new time can be found.

Operation Transformation: As we try to raise the level of physical activity in our school community we ask all our parents who are free, to join in with our BEST FOOT FORWARD! Parents Walk every Thursday morning leaving from the front gate @9.05 am.

Aldi Play Rugby Sticker Promotion: We have begun collecting Aldi rugby stickers/tokens for our school. If you shop in Aldi we would appreciate you sending in the stickers with your children so that we have an opportunity to win some great prizes for St. Thomas’ J.N.S. The children are really enjoying the campaign.

School Closure: School will close at 12pm on Friday 14th February for staff in-service training. Mid-Term break takes place from Monday 17th to Friday 21st February inclusive.

Yours sincerely

Michael Maher
