Dear Parents/Guardians,

Reminder: St. Thomas’ Parents Association Annual Subscription of €10 per family is now overdue. Please return your subscription to class teacher in the envelope provided as soon as possible. Thank you to all the parents who have already paid this subscription as funds collected greatly assist the resources available to the school.

We are currently updating our musical instrument sets in both halls and replenishing our sports equipment for the whole school. This is made possible through your support and is much appreciated.

Book Week 2018 starts next Monday 12th Nov. Lots of activities will be happening in school e.g.

Book Fair: 12th to 16th, D.E.A.R. Time, Buddy Reading, Library Visits (Sen. Inf. -2nd class)

Please consider joining Lucan Library if you’re not already a member. (southdublinlibraries.ie)

Niall de Búrca storyteller will also visit the school on Monday and work with all classes for the day.

One activity for parents to be involved with is our Bedtime StoryChallenge for infants-1st class.

The challenge is to read your child a bedtime story, every night, next week. You need to record the name of the book etc. on the form. Your child will be entered into a class raffle to win a book from the book fair on completion of this challenge.

2nd classes will do the MS Readathon for the month of November. Please send in €2 to the class teacher by Friday 23rd November. Reading a bedtime story/reading daily at home is a proven enjoyable way to help develop your child’s reading skills.

A Book Fair, facilitated by our Parents Association, will be held in the school from Monday12th to Friday 16th November. Our school benefits by getting 60% of the value of the book sales in free books for the school, and this assists the development of our class libraries and resource materials.
