Dear Parents/Guardians,

St. Thomas’ J.N.S. Parents Association

Pupil Personal Accident Insurance: Forms for this scheme went home on Friday 14th September.

If you wish to avail of this scheme please return the form and money to class teacher by tomorrowFriday 28th September. This is the last day to enrol in the scheme. Payment in cash is acceptable .

I would encourage every parent to avail of the Pupil Personal Accident Insurance Scheme (Allianz) which offers 24 hour cover for 365 days of the year.

School Uniforms: Our School Uniform suppliers Bernard Owens in Leixlip have informed us they will be closed for a re-vamp from the 8th to the 25th of October.

Griffeen Park Visits: Our first classes will be visiting Griffeen Park to meet the Park Ranger and learn about the flora and fauna of the park as part of National Tree week (1st – 5th October ).

Grandparents’ Day: (Second Class Pupils): As part of the history curriculum we are inviting in grandparents of our second class pupils on, Wednesday 3rd October ’

@11.15am (Ms. Kerrigan, Ms. Sullivan & Ms. Walshe)

@1.15pm (Mr. Coleman & Mr. Burke)for a cuppa and a chance to visit their grandchild’s classroom.

Please let your child’s teacher know if they are able to attend on the day. (Grandparents only)

Green Schools: As we are a Green Flag school, we continue to promote Zero Waste in lunchboxes, achieved by using sustainable materials (kitchen roll) instead of tinfoil and plastic materials.

Well done to the parents and pupils for your continued support in this. Our school will be carrying out waste monitoring in the classes in October assisted by our wonderful Green Reps to help reduce waste going to landfill.

Health & Safety: For health & safety reasons there are no dogs, scooters, bicycles or wheelie bags allowed on the school yard in the mornings or at pupil pick up times.

Parents are asked to stand at the back of the line, for all class levels to allow children walk in/out safely with teacher. Try and have your child standing ‘in the line for five to nine’. At this stage children will be walking in, in two lines, so please refrain from ‘high fiving’and waiting at the door to see them in! Thank you.

St. Thomas’ J.N.S. Parents Association will hold their first meeting on Wednesday 3rd October in the staff room at 8pm. All parents welcome.

Coats: Please ensure your child has a suitable coat with them on a daily basis going forward as we approach the winter months.

Yours sincerely

Michael Maher

Principal
