Parent / Teacher Meetings: These will take place after school next Wednesday 7th andThursday 8thFebruary. Junior and Senior Infants go home at normal time,
1st & 2nd classes to be collected at 2.20pm on both of those two days.
Formal Registration of Junior Infants for September 2018 took place in the school on Monday 29th, Tuesday 30th, and Wednesday 31st. If you already completed a preenrolment form and did notcall to the school in the last 3 days, please contact the office immediately. Notification of places offered will be issued to parents before the end of February.
H.S.E. has informed us that vaccinations (4 in 1 and MMR) for Junior Infants will take place next Monday 5th & Tuesday 6th February.
Vision Testing will take place on Monday 26th, Tuesday 27th February and Monday 5th March.Repeat Hearing tests will be on Monday 12th March.
Operation Transformation: We had a great turn out for our walk last Saturday in Griffeen Park.(360 people in total). Our mini bootcamp with Robbie and our OT Leader David Cryan yesterday was also a great success. Well done to everyone who took part and keep up the good work! Photos up on our website.
If you are interested in joining the parents association for a morning walking group after drop off in the morning leave your name and number at the school office and we can select the most suitable days to go.
School Newsletter: We had a good response from parents (360 replies) telling us what their preference is for receiving the newsletter (paper /online ) .The result was ONLINE 241/ PAPER 119 or 2/1 in favour of online. Consequently we will be going online from next Thursday 8th February and the newsletter will be put up on the school website (stthomasjns.com) every Thursday going forward. Please get into the habit of visiting the website every Thursday or Friday to keep up to date with what is happening in the school and apart from the newsletter you will find lots of coverage of school events and projects.
We print 12,000 paper newsletters per year and this change fits in with our Greenschools policy . Our internal mail is also gone online so with your help we can all do our bit for the environment!
Mid-Term Break: This will take place on the 15th /16th February (Thursday/Friday). School closed on both days.
Child Protection/Safeguarding : Under new legislation all staff members working in schools will have to undergo compulsory training and certification (Term 2 and Term 3 ) over two half days. The first of these will take place on Friday 23rd February. School will close @12 on that day with Infant classes off @11.50.
