Dear Parents/ Guardians,

I hope you are all safe and well.

Active Week

We will be holding an Active Week in school next week, 14th-18th, instead of our usual sports day. The children will be doing one sports day activity every day including the water race, parachute, egg and spoon race, target shot and jump zone. Teachers will aim to bring the children outdoors for other lessons as part of this week, such as story time, SESE, art or to explore our new Music wall. Our first classes will also get an outdoor yoga session, kindly offered by Ms Doherty who runs Smiling Soul kids yoga and wellbeing classes.

The children can wear a tracksuit every day or shorts if the weather is nice. Please remember to apply sunscreen to your child if necessary as they will be spending more time outdoors. It's also a good idea to include a sun hat and an extra drink. On Friday, an ice cream van will be arriving at our school, so all the children can get a treat! Fingers crossed the weather stays good for the week.

Damage to Music Wall and Water Wall

A reminder to all who are collecting pupils at home time that the top yard is the designated collection point for all classes. No parents or pupils should be in the bottom yard and we would be grateful if pupils are collected on time from their assigned lines. We ask that parents/guardians supervise accompanying children at collection time in the top yard and that parents/guardians enter and exit the yard promptly as classes continue to use both yards for outdoor learning. Unfortunately, there has been some damage to our new music and water wall installation on our bottom yard during collection which the staff and pupils have been involved in creating. These are not play items and are solely for the use of our staff and students during lesson time. We want to ensure that the music wall and water wall will be in existence for pupils use during lesson time for all our pupils, so we appreciate your co-operation with the above please.

Booklists

Booklists with the name of your child’s class teacher for next year will be posted home along with school reports this Friday June 11th. If you have recently moved house, please contact the school office on 01 6282691 to inform Maureen of your new address.

School Fees

If you have any outstanding school equipment fees from this year 2020/2021, please contact your child’s class teacher to ensure the payment is made as soon as possible.

School Uniforms

Bernard Owens (our school uniform suppliers) have appealed to parents to purchase uniforms via their website www.bernardowens.ie. With the current HSE guidelines in place this is the safest and most efficient way to do so. If you have any queries regarding size please contact the shop via info@bernardowens.ie or call 01 6244488.

Parents of Incoming Junior Infants

An email was recently sent to parents of incoming Junior Infants 2021, with attached documents and links informing parents of all the practical information one needs to know about our school. We will bring our new junior infant classes in for familiarisation on the week beginning August 23rd at specific times. If you did not receive this email, please check your junk folder and if it is not there, please contact the school office.

Many thanks and best wishes,

Teresa Moynihan
