A Chairde

Halloween Dress up Fundraiser

Thank you for your donations to the Peter McVerry Trust which raised €848. Your generosity will ensure that the Peter McVerry Trust can continue to provide crucial accommodation to over 1,600 people each night across Ireland. Your kindness ensures the gift of a home, hope and a new future for those they work with and support each day. Thank also to the Parents Association who gave all pupils a spooky present. It was fantastic to see the pupils dressed up in costumes. There was a wonderful sense of excitement in the school and everybody looked fabulous!

Book Week

Next week we celebrate Book Week and we have lots of fun activities to look forward to. These include reading challenges, daily DEAR time(Drop Everything And Read), favourite author polls, a visit from storyteller Niall de Búrca and Lucky Dips from Lucan Library to name a few. We will also be running an online book club for each class where there will be an option available to purchase books online from www.scholastic.ie. By using the online book club, the school will earn 20% commission to update our class libraries. Your child will receive a brochure by Friday 6th and your child's teacher will send you more detail by email. On Friday 13th November, the children in 1st and 2nd class can come to school dressed up as their choice of book character. These fun activities are devised to engage your child in the world of books and to foster development of their reading skills, which are so central to their academic progress. Thank you to Ms. Sullivan for all her work in organising our Book Week activities.

Parents Association

The next meeting of our Parents Association is on Wednesday 11th November. The Parents Association will share more details about this meeting in the coming days.

Parish Car Park

Please note that to park in the disabled parking bays in the car park, vehicles need to display a blue disabled parking badge and a green 2020 parking permit. The clamping company APOCA which looks after this car park are monitoring the situation.

Wet Days

On wet mornings, we ask that children enter the school via the junior/senior school hall door as appropriate. Parents are asked not to enter the school building. There is no access to the school from the yard. Children in Rooms 9,10, 11 and 12, whose classes are in the prefabs are asked to enter the school via the senior school hall door.

Covid 19

Thank you for your support in operating our ‘drop and go’ system in the mornings. In the afternoons, you can continue to collect your child from yard as normal. We can facilitate this as there is a significant difference in the numbers of adults present on the yard in the afternoons than in the mornings. This results from the two school starting times 9am and 9.10am while there are 4 different school finishing times; 1.40pm 1.50pm 2.40pm and 2.50pm. As it stands, 300 pupils start school at 9am and another 300 at 9.10am. Approximately, 150 pupils finish school at 1.40pm, and at each of the other finishing times. Hence, the number of adults in the yard in the afternoon is significantly less than in the morning. As we continue to operate this system, we also ask that you please continue to wear a mask on school grounds and adhere to social distancing guidelines. Our priority continues to be to keep everyone safe and happy including pupils, staff and parents. We closely follow all public health measures and continue to update our school’s COVID-19 Response Plan accordingly.
