Intercultural Activities
Week Beginning Monday 21st May
Class Activities: Junior Infants – Second
The children in all classes will be learning about people from different countries and cultures. This will include stories, art, music, dance, traditions, games, celebrations, foods and languages, Geography of the country and some History.
Classes will also visit their neighbouring class during the week to see what they have learned.
Monday 21st May Class Concerts: The children will be performing a poem/song/dance for the other children at their class level.
Junior and Senior Infants: Junior Hall at 10am
1st & 2nd classes: Senior Hall at 11am
Tuesday 22nd May:
Parental visits (1st /2nd class only) Parents visit a class and relate to the children simple elements of their country and culture, (wearing traditional clothes, telling a story, counting to 10 in another language, demonstrating a skill, song or dance), and of course answering questions from the children.
Tuesday 22nd May: Visit from Lorna Gold
(Trócaire) to all Second Classes to speak about the challenges of climate change in developing countries.
Wednesday 23rd May: International coffee morning. [11.15-12.15] All parents welcome. Bring something small (sweet or savoury) to represent your country ,or come along for a cuppa and a chat with other parents.
Thursday 24th - Dress –up Day.
All children, parents and staff are invited to dress up in their national dress/traditional costume of their own country/another country, or in their team/county colours.
