Seachtain na Gaeilge

Táimid ag ceiliúradh Seachtain na Gaeilge le linn na seachtaine seo. Tá na ranganna ar fad ag glacadh páirte in imeachtaí a bhaineann le Gaeilge i rith na seachtaine. Míle buíochas le Ms Walshe agus Ms. Linehan as ucht na gníomhaíochtaí ar fad atá a n-eagrú acu an tseachtain seo. I measc na n-imeachtaí, thug daltaí ón dara rang (dha ghrúpa) cuairt ar Ghaelscoil Eiscir Riada, tháinig daltaí ó Scoil Áine ar chuairt ar ár scoil agus muid ar fad ag glacadh páirte in imeachtaí agus an Ghaeilge in úsáid againn. Bhí Ceolchoirm ar siúl againn inné freisin, áit a raibh gach páiste páirteach i dtaispeántais éagsúla bunaithe ar théama Gaeilge. Tá go leor Gaeilge á múineadh i ngach rang an tseachtain seo le béim faoi leith ar Ghaeilge neamhfhoirmiúil ar fud na scoile.

This week, we are celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge. All classes are participating in Irish events throughout the week. Thank you to Ms. Walshe and Ms. Linehan for organising all activities this week. Some of the events included two 2nd classes visiting Eiscir Ríada, Rince le Rita, Spraoi le Gaeilge, classes from Scoil Áine visiting our school and participating in activities while using the Irish language. We also held a Ceoilchoirm yesterday where all children were involved in Irish themed performances. Room 16 enjoyed Seachtain na Gaeilge this week with some Gaeilge activities each morning. Bionn an crac acu ag imirt na cluichi le cheile. Lots of Gaeilge is being taught in all classes this week with an emphasis on informal Irish throughout the school.

As part of Seachtain na Gaeilge, Ms. Power and our Green Schools group organised a wonderful Shamrock Parade led by Ms. Doherty’s 2nd class. Thank you to Saint ‘Patricia’ – Mridula, our parent volunteer who led our Shamrock parade, mum of Harshad in Ms. Barnes room. Go raibh mile maith agat Mridula. We met at the Lord Lucan this morning at 8.30am and walked to school. We arrived to a refreshing and most welcoming school yard. Thank you to all of you who took part. Ms. Power also was our ‘St. Patrick’ today for our 1st and 2nd classes school parade around our school. Everyone had so much fun marching and playing instruments. Well done to everyone and thank you to Ms. Power!

ALDI’s Play Rugby sticker competition

Many thanks to Colette Byrne who has organised our participation in Aldi’s play rugby sticker competition. Thank you to all of you whom have supported us and have sent in stickers for our posters. Thanks to you, we have completed 4 big posters and are on our 5th poster. There are two weeks left so with your help we will hopefully complete a 5th poster and be in with a chance of winning fantastic prizes for our school. A completed poster of 300 stickers will earn the school an entry into the prize draw. One school will win €50,000 and another 10 schools will win €5,000 for their school facilities. Additionally, each sticker offers ALDI customers a chance to win their weekly shop, all customers have to do is scan the QR code on the back of their sticker and enter the unique code at aldi.ie/playrugby for a chance to win one of 10 x €200 ALDI gift cards weekly from January 16th until April 23rd 2023.
