Dear Parent/ Guardian,

We are approaching the end of the fourth week of remote learning and I know that everyone is playing a blinder in keeping things going. Thank you for everything you are doing- it is important that your effort is recognised. Many school books have been collected. Some are still awaiting collection. Books can be collected on Monday, Wednesday or Friday from 9am to 11.30am.

Parent Teacher Meetings

Teachers will be in contact with parents regarding holding parent teaching meetings over the next two weeks. Where two parents wish to speak with a class teacher at separate times due to family circumstances, we certainly can facilitate this.

Supporting your child to stay safe online

Tuesday the 9th of February is Safer Internet Day 2021 and the National Parents Council Primary are running free online interactive workshops on “Keeping your child safe online” all next week. This programme will give you practical information and supports to help you as a parent in this vital role. It will help you better understand the role that your parenting skills have in keeping your child safe. It will also look at some of the evidence about how children in Ireland are spending their time online and will also examine some of the risks and benefits for children online. The sessions are taking place online via Zoom at 10am from Monday to Friday, and 8pm on Monday to Thursday next week, starting Monday the 8th. Just click on the following link to register. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/InternetSafetyOnline2021 Each session will have limited numbers for discussion and questions, and places will be offered on a first come first serve basis.

School Reopening

Children in Special Schools will return to school on 50% capacity shared basis from the 11th February. Children in special classes in mainstream primary schools will return on 22nd February. Supplementary in-person care and educational support programme for children with complex needs is to commence from 11th February for four weeks (20 hours). We await guidance around the latter and around the reopening of mainstream schools for all children.

Mid Term Break

Our Mid Term Break is from Thursday 18th to Friday 19th February inclusive as per our school calendar issued at the beginning of the year. Children are not expected to engage in remote learning on those two days.

Thank you for keeping in touch and letting me know how you and your children are getting on at home and coping with remote learning. Our pupils continue to inspire all of us, and the old seanfhocal rings so true for me – Mol an óige agus tiocfaidh sí.

Stay safe, and best wishes,

Teresa Moynihan

Principal
