Dear Parents/ Guardians,

Covid 19

A reminder that after the mid-term break, from Monday 2nd of November, we are asking parents to operate a ‘drop and go’ system. This means that parents are asked to bring their children to the green gates at either side of the school yard where 8 teachers will welcome children and escort them to their respective line on yard. At the Cannonbrook side, teachers will meet children at the green gate (before the way narrows at the red barriers). We ask that parents refrain from entering the school yard in the mornings and not to congregate at the gates. Please continue to wear a mask and leave promptly after dropping off your child/children. This helps keep all of us a little safer. Our priority is to keep everyone safe and happy including pupils, staff and parents. We are closely following all public health measures.

We are grateful to everyone for your continued co-operation at drop-off and pick-up times. If you are particularly worried about this new system, please let your child’s class teacher know. If there is any information that the school needs to know about your son or daughter, please let us know. We continue to update our school’s COVID-19 Response Plan in accordance with national and local developments. We are in this together and I thank you in advance for your understanding and your co-operation,

Hallowe’en Celebration

Unfortunately, due to COVIID-19 restrictions, we cannot hold a Spooky WOW walk this year. However, we still want to make sure that we mark Hallowe’en in a fun way for our pupils. Therefore, we are asking children to dress up and wear costumes to school on Friday 23rd October and donate €2 per child/€5 per family to the Fr Peter McVerry Trust. Please send into your child’s class teacher in a labelled envelope. This is a very deserving charity that supports those affected by homelessness. On the day, all pupils will also receive a spooky present from the Parents’ Association.

School Uniforms

Our school uniform supplier Bernard Owens Menswear in Leixlip would like to notify parents that they will be closing in line with Government guidelines. If anyone needs to purchase uniforms, they can ‘click and collect’ as the shop will open for two hours a day from 10am to 12 noon or phone the shop to arrange an appointment.

Car parking

Please note that those with blue 2020 parking permits are allowed use the disabled parking bays in the parish carpark. The clamping company looking after this car park are monitoring the situation,

Wet Days

On wet mornings, we ask that children enter the school via the junior/senior school hall door as appropriate. Parents are asked not to enter the school building. There is no access to the school from the yard. Children in Rooms 9,10, 11 and 12, whose classes are in the prefabs are asked to enter the school via the senior school hall door.

Pupil absences

Please remember to send in a note explaining your child’s absences when your child is absent from school.

Lucan Library

Lucan library have organised some lovely online mid-term activities which may be of interest to you and your family. More details can be found on their Facebook page.

Book Fair

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, we will not be holding our usual book fair in November. However, we are going to run an online version in each class. More details will follow after the mid-term break.

Happy Halloween

Well done to all children and families who created some fabulous pumpkins this week. We have been so impressed with all the wonderfully creative designs of scary, funny and happy pumpkins. It is so inspiring to see our children take such pride in their creativity and imagination and was a real source of joy to us all.

I wish you and your family a restful mid-term break. Stay safe and I look forward to seeing you and welcoming all children back on Monday November 2nd.
