25-August-22

Welcome back! I want to welcome back all members of our school community as we embark on a new academic year. I hope that you all had a lovely summer break and that you had time to relax and enjoy the (mostly!) sunny weather with family and friends. I especially wish to warmly welcome our new incoming pupils to Junior Infants as well as our returning pupils whom we are delighted to see back in our classrooms. I would like to send every good wish to our most recent 2nd class pupils for the very best of luck as they embark on their journey in Scoil Áine Naofa. An exciting new chapter begins for you and your parents/guardians this term.

Thank You! I would like to thank Ms. Murray for filling the position of Acting Principal for the last academic year. She did a superb job and I look forward to working with you all this coming year. I’m very grateful for all the good wishes I received this past year as well.

Return to school for all pupils on Wednesday 31st August. All pupils are asked to line up at their class number in the yard as normal. The following are our starting and finishing school times.

  • Senior infants- 9am start and 1:40pm finish
  • First and Second classes: 9am start and 2:40pm finish time.

Junior Infants start times: Please note the staggered times/dates for Junior Infants

  • Week 1 Wednesday 31st – Friday 2nd Sept. 9.20am - 11.30am
  • Week 2 Monday 5th-Friday 9th September 9.00am - 12.00pm
  • Week 3 Monday 12th Sept. onwards (Full Day) 9.00am – 1.40pm

Yard collection procedures: Collection from the yard will happen at each class line number. All children should be in their lines for 8:55am each morning and parents are responsible for supervising their children on yard each morning. We ask parents to stand back well behind the yellow lines, to keep all pathways clear of buggies and pedestrians and for parents to leave the yard promptly when the children enter the school. It is important that the pupils and staff can get into school in the morning safely. We greatly appreciate your co-operation and support.

Please continue to foster the independence the pupils have developed over the last two years by keeping goodbyes as short as you can. Please also note that teachers cannot speak with parents in the morning so if you need to speak with a teacher, home time is a better time to do so. Alternatively, please phone the school on 01 6282691 for urgent messages you may need to pass on.
