Reading Season/Book week!!!!

Niall De Burca (storyteller) will visit all the classes in the school on the 8th and 9th of November to as always tell some hilariously animated stories. The children are in for a big treat!

The Children in 1st/2nd classes can dress up as a book character on Friday 12th November (if they wish).

Reading Challenges. All pupils are being asked to increase their reading during reading week and the month of November. Second-class pupils will engage in a readathon and there will be some lovely prizes at the end of the month.

DEAR- Drop Everything And Read will be a regular feature in the classes along with buddy reading and a character scavenger hunt.

Library visits-for all classes have been scheduled for this week and the coming weeks.

A big thank you in particular to Ms. Walshe and Ms. Sullivan along with the English team who have put a lot of work into the events above. We would like to also thank our parental volunteers who went on library visits. Your support is greatly appreciated as always.

Colder weather: A reminder to parents to make sure that your children are well wrapped up in winter coats, hats and scarves as the weather is becoming increasingly colder. There is increased ventilation also in the classrooms because of Covid protocols so extra layers for your children will be needed.

GAA: Gaelic football training will start today with some of our senior infant classes. David Moran our coach will visit weekly. The remainder of the senior infant classes will receive training after the Christmas break.

Gate closures: as mentioned before the midterm break, The Cannonbrook and Church pedestrian gates will be closed to pedestrians between the hours of 9:30am and 1:30pm to allow for a more secure and safe setting for our pupils.

PA: thank you again to our wonderful Parents’ Association who organised goodie bags for all our pupils before the midterm break. Your hard work and enthusiasm is greatly appreciated.
