School tours Our senior infants had a fantastic day in Newbridge house and farm last Friday. They were excellently behaved and were a credit to St Thomas’. The excitement was palpable as the classes headed off on their first school tour. Our first classes visited Lullymore yesterday and were equally well behaved. Thank you to all our teachers/snas and parent volunteers for making the day so special for the pupils.

Sport’s Day:We will hold 2 sports days this year. Day 1 will be for 1st/2nd classes and Day 2 will be for junior and senior infants. The reasoning behind this is because of staggered breaktimes. There is such a short window within which we have access to the yard and a full day for all pupils simultaneously would mean very little active engagement for the children. As always, our sport’s day is dependent on weather so the below arrangements are a provisional outline and may change at short notice.

  • Sport’s Day 1: 1st/2nd class: Monday 13th June 9:30-2pm
  • Sport’s Day 2: Junior/Senior Infants: Thursday 16th June 9:30-1:30pm

All parents are welcome to attend and if you are available to help out please call the office to let us know on 01 6282691 or inform the class teacher. We would be most appreciative.

Texaco Art Competition: Big congratulations to Carly Mulhall from Ms. Barnes’ Class who won a special merit award in the 68th Texaco Children’s Art competition with her entry ‘Fireworks’. There was great excitement as Carly won a giant box of art resources. Well done Carly!!

First Holy Communions Well done to the pupils in Mr. Kelly’s class who made their First Holy Communion on Sunday May 29th. The children all looked wonderful and were a credit to the school and to their families. I hope that you all had a very special day. Best wishes to Ms. Nolan’s and Ms. Lawlor’s class this Sunday @10:30am. Special mention also to the children’s choir and the Parish team who put a lot of effort into making the ceremonies so special for the Communicants and to Fr. Samuel. Well done to all the 2nd class teachers and parents for supporting the children in their preparation for their first Holy Communion.

Communion/2nd class photos: parents of pupils in 2nd class received an email regarding Communion/2nd class photos which will take place on June 9th in St. Thomas’ Junior hall.

Booklists/school fees lists-were emailed out last week for the ‘22/’23 school year. If you did not receive it, please contact Maureen in the office on 01 6282691 to ensure that she has the correct email for you. Please also check your spam folder in the first instance. Booklists will be placed on our website for future reference also.

Is your child moving to another school during the summer months? If so please contact the school as soon as possible so that we can offer the place to a child on our waitlist.

Outstanding School fees ‘21/’22: if you have outstanding school fees from the 2021/2022 school year please finalise the payment with Maureen at the office (cash/card) or via the class teacher. We rely on parental support as we do not receive funding from the Department to cover the cost of copies, pencils, crayons, art materials, photocopying, interactive resources and much more. All of these resources are essential to ensure that your child receives a rich learning experience during their time in our school. If you are having difficulty completing the payment please contact the school office on 01-6282691.

Standardised testing: is now complete in first/second classes. Well done to all the pupils who ‘worked hard and did their very best’.
