Parents' Association NOTICE

FAMILY FUN RUN: St. Thomas’ JNS FAMILY FUN RUN is this Sunday April 3rd @ 9:30am at Griffeen Valley Park. Looking forward to a fun morning for all the boys and girls of St. Thomas’. Those who have paid or registered on easypayments already-please present by 9:15am and we will give the children their numbers before the start. Run starts @ 9:30am sharp. St. Thomas' flag will be flying high and a photographer will be present to take some action shots. Medals and treats will be handed out after the children finish. Coghlan's bakery have very kindly donated some pastries for our parents also and we thank them kindly. Parking at Lucan Shopping Centre is advised as there is limited parking on site. Thanks so much to Elaine Moylan and the PA for undertaking this challenge. There has been a huge amount of work involved.

Park Visits: The children in first and second classes have been visiting Griffeen Park and met with the Park Ranger (Gerry Spain). Gerry brings the children and staff on a tour of the park and teaches the pupils all about the local natural habitat. The children also get to visit the playground during the trip. Upcoming Closures 2022

April 1st: Half day closure for compulsory staff Primary Language Curriculum. Junior and senior infants will finish at 11:50am and 1st/2nds will finish at 12pm. SNAs are undertaking epilepsy training.

Easter Holidays: School closes on April 8th @ 11:50am for infants and 12pm for 1sts/2nds. School will reopen on Monday 25th April.

May 2nd Bank Holiday and May 3rd school closure

Rainbows bereavement support has come to completion. I would like to sincerely thank Ms. Holzle, Ms. Christian, Mr. Kelly and Ms. Sullivan for their generosity of time and commitment to supporting our pupils. This Rainbows programme is an invaluable support to them and their parents.

Intercultural week: Monday 4th-8th April. The school will be buzzing with learning, music and excitement. The pupils will learn about other countries, traditions, customs, food etc. Pupils will have the opportunity to dress up in international/Irish dress on April 8th (day of Easter Holidays). We also have a visitor from Trocaire (Niall Quillinan) visiting our second classes on Wednesday 6th April. He will speak about Thandekile, Zimbabwe and the effects of climate change.

Placement students: Currently we have four students undertaking teaching placement in our school. They are a wonderful addition to our staff and a great support during such challenging times. We wish Seán, Dearbhla, Eimear and Olivia the best of luck in their teaching career ahead.
