Dear Parents/ Guardians,

School closure

The school will close for a half day next Tuesday 16th May to facilitate staff training. Junior and Senior Infant to go home at 11.50am and 1st and 2nd classes at 12 noon.

Parents Association

A few weeks ago, our kids were having all the fun in their 2k run now it’s the grown-ups turn! We have decided to bring back St Thomas’ Parents Association Quiz Night, it was last held in March 2019. It will be held in The Lord Lucan on Friday 26th of May @8pm. To reward our attentive Newsletter readers, we will share a few facts about St Thomas’ JNS in the run up to the night. You never know if you’ll need them!!! The first one being - Our school was founded in 1976.

Advance tickets are on sale now via Eventbrite https://www.eventbrite.com/e/st-thomas-jns-quiz-night-tickets-629499107777. Buying your tickets in advance will help us to get up and running quickly on the night. Tickets are priced at €40.00 per table of four plus Eventbrite booking fee.

As we build up to the event, we would love you to share our Facebook post advertising the quiz, this is a good opportunity to share a bit of community spirit with friends and family. We will be picking one lucky person at random who has shared our Facebook post. They will be awarded with a nice bottle of wine on the night – you only win if you’re there though!

New Junior Infants Information Evening

Our New Junior Infants Information Evening will be held on Wednesday 24th May at 8pm in the Junior Hall. Any queries on this, please contact the school office.

First Holy Communion

Best wishes to all children in our school who are celebrating the sacrament of First Holy Communion this Saturday. We wish you all a happy and sunny day!

School Books

The Government announced a free primary school book scheme for next year, where the school will purchase all school books that the children will use. This is a welcome and positive step in supporting all families in the school. These books will be on loan to the children for the year. Separate to this, there will continue to be a charge for arts and crafts and related materials which will be sent out in shortly.

Lucan Sarsfields summer camps are open to all children 4 years to 12 years. Monday to Friday 10am - 2pm.

August 7th-11th. Club Football and Ladies Football camp

Clothing Collection

Clothing collection We welcome all kinds of unneeded clothes (clean and wearable), shoes (in pairs), hats, scarves, bags, belts, bed linen, towels and curtains. You can drop bags of clothing into the blue clothing bank beside the gates as you enter the yard. If you are doing a spring clean of your wardrobes, we would be delighted to take any unwanted clothing off your hands. All money raised will go towards buying resources for the pupils of St. Thomas’ JNS. Many thanks for your support.

Camp Esker 2023

An annual Summer camp will be returning with lots of fun activities this summer from the 3rd to the 7th of July. Priority is given to pupils from St. Thomas’ and the camp is run by fully vetted school staff. There is a limited number of places. Please email campesker@gmail.com to book your child’s place and for registration details.

June Camp

Mr. Kelly & Ms O'Reilly will be running a June camp on the 6th and 7th of June. The camp will take place in the school from 9:30 -2:30 pm and will include sports and games, STEM challenges, Lego, coding and more!


The camp is 50€ for two days or 40€ per sibling and is suitable from junior infants up. For more information please contact eskercamps@gmail.com
